Private Marriage Intensives: how ours work →
By Hasani Pettiford · Last updated November 4, 2026
In short: Among providers that publish prices, private one-couple intensives in the US ranged from about $5,500 to $25,000 when we checked in November 2026, and group affair-recovery weekends from about $2,700 to $3,700 per couple. Insurance usually does not pay. The price depends mostly on whether it is private or group, how many days and hours, and who leads it.
Key takeaways
- Private intensives cost more than group weekends because all the time goes to one couple.
- Length and hours drive the price: two days of six hours is very different from five days of twelve.
- Who leads it matters: licensed therapists, certified specialists and coaches price differently.
- Ask what is included before and after: assessment, preparation, follow-up sessions, aftercare.
- Insurance rarely covers intensives or couples work; plan to pay privately.
- Couples Academy does not publish one price; we talk through the right length and the investment on a free call.

What makes one intensive cost more than another?
- Private or group. In a private intensive every hour is about your marriage. A group weekend spreads the leaders’ time across many couples.
- Days and hours. Compare total hours, not days. Some intensives run six hours a day; ours run eight to twelve.
- Who leads it. Ask about training, credentials and how much of their work is with couples after an affair.
- Where it happens. Travel to the provider, the provider traveling to you, or a virtual intensive all change the total.
- What comes before and after. Assessment, preparation sessions, follow-up and aftercare are sometimes included and sometimes extra.
Does insurance pay for a marriage intensive?
Usually not. Psychology Today notes that couples therapy is usually not covered, and coverage generally requires a licensed clinician and a diagnosis (Grow Therapy). Couples Academy provides relationship coaching, which insurance does not cover.
What does a Couples Academy intensive cost?
We don’t publish a single price, because the right intensive is different for each couple. Ours run three, four or five days (with an extended seven-day option), eight to twelve hours a day, one couple at a time. They are by application, and the length is set during the assessment. The investment is discussed on the free discovery call, once we understand what you’re facing.
Every intensive includes preparation beforehand, including a virtual pre-intensive session, and guidance afterward. Couples who finish can continue in our aftercare, the Moving Forward Program.
What should you ask before you pay?
- How many hours will we actually work, in total?
- Is it just us, or will other couples be there?
- Who leads it, and how much of their work is with couples after an affair?
- What happens before the intensive, and what support is there afterward?
- What is the cancellation and rescheduling policy?

Frequently asked questions
How much does a private marriage intensive cost?
Among US providers that published prices in November 2026, private one-couple intensives ranged from about $5,500 to $25,000, depending on length, hours and who leads them. Group weekends ranged from about $2,700 to $3,700 per couple.
Why are marriage intensives so expensive?
A private intensive gives one couple many hours of a specialist’s time in a few days, often with preparation and follow-up included. Compare total hours and what is included, not just the price.
Does insurance cover a marriage intensive?
Usually not. Couples therapy is usually not covered by insurance, and relationship coaching, which is what Couples Academy offers, is not covered.
